Performer/Choreographer/Director
My first love for the stage was as a dancer joining the equity summer-stock musical theatre chorus at the Muny Opera in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. I hungered for the expressions of dance as its own language and pursued modern dance training in New York at the American Dance Center, the Merce Cunningham Studio and various ballet and pilates studios. I returned to St. Louis dancing as a founding member and choreographer of St. Louis Dance Kaliedium and then moved to Los Angeles where I joined the L.A. Contemporary Dance Theatre. When I moved to the Seattle area, I returned to musical theatre working as an actor/dancer/choreographer with local community theaters, including Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA), and directing the theatre program at our local high school on Bainbridge Island (BHS). The line up of musicals at BPA include THE WIZARD OF OZ, BIG RIVER, MY FAIR LADY, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, THE MUSIC MAN and at BHS, KISS ME KATE, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and PIPPIN. The plays I directed at the high school include SEAGULL, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, and LADY WINDEMERE’S FAN.
The combined focus as a performer, choreographer and director has shaped my storytelling as a playwright, providing context for the characters I create, the world they inhabit and how they move through their world.
